I need to connect my old PPC Mac mini to my wireless network(no airport card) so I just bought a Linksys WET54G v3 (it will be connecting to an airport express network).

I have set it up using my macbook as per the instructions, I did this in windows (i'm running bootcamp on my Macbook).

I can connect successfully via ethernet when in windows (DCHP all automatic settings), but when in Mac OS it won't connect (DCHP all automatic settings).

So the bridge works perfectly under windows XP but not when in MacOS.

Any idea why this is happening? I can access the web based control panel fine when in both OS's, I just only connect to the network in Windows.

FYI when I successfully connect in Windows this is the stats of the connection:

Physical Address: 00-16-CB-CF-40-F0
IP Address: 10.0.1.4
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 10.0.1.1
DHCP Server: 10.0.1.1
Lease Obtained: 7/10/2006 12:51:49 PM
Lease Expires: 7/10/2006 4:51:49 PM
DNS Server: 10.0.1.1
WINS Server:

Please can someone help!

Since it CANNOT be a driver issue (the box uses no drivers, connecting directly to an ethernet port on the computer), it has to be a settings issue.

Have you restarted the computer in MacOS and then manually attempted to renew the DHCP address? Can you log into the browser-based configuration for the box while running OS X?

I can access the web configuration perfectly through safari.

Also screenshots of how I have set the preference pane when I want to access the bridge.

Does this look correct? How do I renew the DHCP address?

OK Problem solved.
Go into the Bridge configuration page, go to the advanced tab and turn on MAC Cloning.

Would be nice if linksys tech support suggested it.

The one problem people report with Linksys that I actually agree with completely is that their tech support (to use a technical term) "sucks." And that applies to both Mac and PC platform-specific questions, by the way. The manuals tend to be better than phone support, as long as you can translate between PC-specific instructions and "Mac-ese."

I'm still at a loss as to why you'd need something different for this device while running Mac OS. Oh well, as long as it works...
