Hey guys, I was wondering about how networking works with OS X. I'm trying to integrate my powerbook into the network at my office. There are some issues, like printing, and other things. Email too. The office runs on a Microsoft exchange server, and according to the tech guy, OS X sucks for networking. Case in point, I can't really get my mac to really integrate into the network either. This hurt my feelings. Lets prove him wrong lol.

Oh yeah, and I've been having to actually use Virtual PC in order to really use the network here. I can't print on the network because of some issues probably with Appletalk, and the only way really to get a full network going is to use VPC, which i'm really not looking forward to doing in the long run. Any ideas guys?

Actually, OS X is great for networking. I'm sure the people in the networking forum can help you. The tech guy probably has no idea about OS X (no offense intended).

So please post about specific issues (network printing works like a charm as long as the printer is supported by OS X; if you work for a company which probably uses laser printers with postscript support, you'll be safe anyway).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Well the largest issue is printing. I can't print a darn thing in this crap office network.

Here are the specifics. I have no trouble seeing and connecting to the printer (i have the choice of Appletalk and Bonjour for printers...which one SHOULD i choose?). I have no problem adding it to my list of printers and such. However, whenever i try to print anything (i'll use Microsoft word in this example), I get this error that says "Word cannot print due to a problem with your current printer. Make sure you have a printer selected in the print center. You may need to print again or adjust your settings." This happens with every printer in the office (we have about 5). It's not only for Word, but for other apps like textedit, and even printing from Safari.

The other issue is that one printer is listed on the compay "domain" (not sure what this means). The tech guys don't know how to give me access to the domain via OS X, but instead can only do it on Windows. I'm not even sure if i'm describing it right lol. ANyways, thanks for any help guys.
