My company just got me a sierra wireless network PC Card for Edge/GSM/GPRS networks (cell phone reception) because I work in a remote location but need internet access....of course my ibook does not have a PC card expansion slot. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to connect my G4 to the internet out here? Does anyone else think its ridiculous that no one has developed an airport extreme card that fits in the ibook G4 and picks up these cellular signals....? I noticed that TMobile has just released in the UK a wireless modem that attaches to Macs via USB. Are there any products that can take a PC card and attach to a mac via USB or Ethernet available in the US? Dear god please dont make me dust off the ancient toshiba...

Nope, there are only PC Cards and there is no way to get them to work with a non-PC Card computer, such as an iBook.

Your only choice is to use an Internet-enabled digital cell phone that is compatible with OS X using either a USB connection or a Bluetooth connection. Depending on your cell phone provider's cell phone internet access the connection speed can be fairly decent. And if you equip your iBook with Bluetooth using a USB adapter and get a cell phone with BT you can make the connection wirelessly between the two devices. Thus you could put the phone in your pocket and walk around with your iBook and maintain connectivity.
