Hello everyone.. Hopefully someone can lend me a hand.
I have a PowerMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.7. It is equipped with Airport wireless. Right now it is connecting to the internet via a Linksys router which is located in another room in my house. The connection is terrible. I actually have a PC running windows xp home edition, which is in the same room as my Mac, which also connects to the same router and the connection is very good.
I would like to know if it is possible to connect my Mac directly to my pc via a standard ethernet cable and access the internet through my pc as opposed to using the wireless Airport connection, since the PC has a better connection...
Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks so much in advance for any assistance...

It IS technically possible - I have done it myself before. The only thing is that you have to come across a Cat 5 (standard Ethernet) CROSSOVER cable that has one normal end, and one end that is switched around to the opposites. If you can find one of these, or even make one, you will be in business. You simply plug one end into the Mac's ethernet port and the other into your PCs ethernet port, and setup a bridge in Windows XP. XP actually even automates this task! -RJGill

If you want it to share the internet connection, you can buy an ethernet switch. It has 5 ports, 1-wireless router or modem, 2-5-computers, laptops, etc

Of course there is always that option...I just assumed he wanted to go direct, since he said "direct" with an "ethernet cable". - RJGill

Is the Power Mac's antenna properly connected? Unless you have it surrounded by metal filing cabinets and such, you should get about the same, or better, signal as most PC laptops.
You REALLY don't want to piggyback on the PC for your Power Mac's connection. You lose speed and flexibility by doing this. And it is likely that all you'll have to do is reconnect the G5's antenna and maybe fiddle with its angle. You NEED this antenna connected, and connected properly, or you WILL get crappy wireless signals.
