Just got a new Macbook about a week ago and just yesterday I had enogh money saved up to buy a wireless router. Bought this Wireless G router and I have not been able to get a signal to my laptop.

The airport sees my SSID and connects to it, but when it searches for a PPPoE host, it can't find one. After searching for a bit it says " No PPoE server has been found for the specified service. Please delete the service name option and try again."

Don't know what to do next. Any help is appreciated.

The Macbook should know nothing about PPPoE.
If you have DSL or some similar service that uses PPPoE, the D-link handles it.

When I open internet connect, under status, it says Connected to "Garn" (my router) then right underneath it, it says Looking for PPPoE host... It is not able to find it though.

Tell your AirPort card that you connect to a LAN. Your ROUTER connects to the Internet through DSL, but NOT your computer. The reason it can't find a PPPoE host is that your router doesn't have one-that's something your ISP has on the other end ot the telephone line.

Seriously, your computer connects to a LAN, NOT to DSL. That is 100% of your problem.

ghporter is right. Try the following:

1. Goto System Preferences -> Networking -> AirPort
2. Click the TCP/IP tab
3. Select Using DHCP
4. Click the Apply Now button on the lower right of the window
5. Launch Safari
6. Follow the router setup instructions that came with your router. Be sure to configure it for PPPoE
