Hi,

I have just recently purchased a g5 power mac. When i got it however i realized that it didn't have a airport extreme card installed so it wasn't possible to connect to my wireless network. I've since bought a card and installed it. I've installed the card fine, the system is picking it up but for some reason it isn't picking up my wireless network signal.

I know there is nothing wrong with the network, i've got 2 other computers that connect to the network wirelessly from the same room. One of them being a G4 power book.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

First thoughts: antenna (the "T" shaped thing that goes on the back of the case MUST be there), the antenna cable (it may seem to be on the card but it often takes a lot more pressure than you'd think), or the card isn't yet properly configured.

Check out the antenna and cable REALLY THOROUGHLY and see if getting those right fixes anything.

The other thing I would add is that if you're using the Apple supported Airport Extreme card or some 3rd party card. Unless its different now, I thought the Airport and Bluetooth wireless connections in Power Macs were BTO's and not user upgradable after purchase.
