I am no longer able to make any connection to the Apple update server. The diagnostic tells me that there is nothing wrong with the internet connection. I am able to web browse, download with Cocoa Wget, load email and load newsgroups. How do I fix this?
Do I have to allow any remote sharing to get updates? What firewall settings need to be changed?
Does this situation mean that something is seriously wrong with the operating system, and I need to reinstall it? Perhaps I just need to restore a system preference library file, and if so, which one?

I don't know how that got borked, but I found a solution. I downloaded the Combo MacOSX Update and installed it. My ability to get automatic updates is back.
