Hello, I've got some troubles with my printers.

First, here is an overview of my network :

- Modem/router/wireless 3Com
- PC notebook + HP OfficeJet (USB)
- PC desktop + HP DeskJet (USB)
- Macbook

Each computer is on WORKGROUP
Both printers are shared

I can :
- print from a PC to the other (and the other way around)
- print from the Macbook to HP OfficeJet (via PC notebook)

I can't :
- print from the Macbook to HP DeskJet (via PC desktop)

The problem is that I can't see HP DeskJet in WORKGROUP when I try to add a printer.

And that doesn't come from the router or from windows as I can use HP DeskJet from the PC notebook

Does anyone have an idea to help me ?

Thank you very much and have a good day

If you look through this forum you'll see that USB printers are a pain to get networked. And worse, USB inkjet printers seem to be even harder to get working over a network than USB lasers. I typically recommend a USB switch for this kind of problem, because there's little you can do that you haven't already looked at.

Considering the number of "help, I can't network my USB printer!" problems that are posted here, I'd really prefer to have a pat, 100% answer. But I don't, and apparently nobody else is smarter than me on this (which is troubling! ).

Just want to clearify a few things. I think I can help you.

When you say "The problem is that I can't see HP DeskJet in WORKGROUP when I try to add a printer.", does it mean you can't see it from the Mac or the PC desktop?

I have these set up and it work great. A HP usb to one PC, two other PCs use the HP via network.

An EPSON usb to the Mac.

The Mac can use HP as a printer and all PCs can use the EPSON printer.

If your problem is printing from Mac to PC printer , this helps:

The printer name contains more than 12 characters

Only printer share names that contain 12 characters or less will be displayed in Printer Setup Utility when browsing for a Windows printer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok ... now I see my USB printer from my Mac. Nice job !
I succeeded in adding the printer but unfortunately, when I try to use the printer I got :
Connection failed with error : NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
and then :
Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: connection failed with error ...

There isn't special right to access my printer (as well as my sharedocs folder)

any ideas ?
