Hi,

I didn't even know we had a Network section.

Anyhow, yesterday I asked the following:

I can see the contents to each of my other Macs by using "Connect to Server". Is it possible to make a similar connection so I can see the files on my WindowXP machines?

Today I was able to get some information from posters, but not enough before the thread was locked.

Anyhow, this link helped some: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106471

but not enough.

If I enter smb://myservername/username/ I am able to get a SMB/CIFS File System Authentication window. It has the Workgroup and name of my Windows computer. I set up the Windows computer with a password and each time I enter it into this SMB/CIRS File System Autentication Window, I get a Error Code -43.

Anyone got any advise?

What a pain in the but. Windows sucks. I finally got it to work.

I had this folder in Windows that I was trying to share. When ever I would right click and bring up file sharing or as the call it Sharing & Security, the check box in the sharing tab was grayed out. I couldn't figure out how to change it so I could unclick the check box that said "Make this folder private". I messed with this thing many times, I finally clicked the text at the very bottom of the tab, I don't remember what it said, but then the check box was no longer grayed out and I was able to change it.

Why on earth would the hide the option to ungray out this feature at the bottom of the window in some obscure text?

I hate Windows with a passion, thank god for Macs.

That option, and some others are among those (I think) that are unavailable when "Use Simple File Sharing" is chosen. "Simple File Sharing" is a Bad Thing-it's only simple if you want to PREVENT networking. Somewhere you probably managed to uncheck that box (it's under Tools|Folder Options|View - AT THE BOTTOM! Dumb place for such a very powerful option.
