Hi all,

I just bought a Buffalo Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54L). I plugged it into my 400mhz TiBook, a small icon appears in the menu-bar, but the computer doesn't seem to see the card otherwise. Airport is grayed out in the network configuration panel also.

Now, in the interest of being complete, my wireless router (Linksys WRT54G) is NOT hooked up yet, so is it as simple as it won't be seen by the Powerbook until it sees a wireless signal somewhere?

Help would be great, thanks.

Hi,

Are you sure the card has Mac drivers? The manufacturers page http://www.buffalotech.com/products/...p;categoryid=7 only shows windoze support.

Hi,

It seems like the card you want is the Buffalo wireless WLI-CB-G54A. The manufacturers page does show Mac support: http://www.buffalotech.com/products/...p?productid=32

This thread http://forums.macnn.com/69/powerbook...-airport-card/ notes that it works well in OS 10.4 without drivers.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available anymore--although it might pop up on ebay from time to time.

These days there are very few wireless adapters compatible with Mac--since all the recent Macs come with wireless built in--so there isn't much of a market.

One Mac compatible PCMCIA adapter is the Hawking Technologies HWC54DA http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/...mp;AppleComp=1
which does seem to be available but is kinda pricey around $85. I don't have experience with this product but have been largely satisfied with another of their products, the HWL2A USB adapter/ wifinder.

Hope that helps
