hey guys, well I'll try asking this question in the network forum here.

I have a problem with all of my peer to peer apps. The apps in question are Acquisition and BitTorrent. I tried downloading other bittorrent apps and even limewire but none of them work. The problem is when I want to try to download something. It just doesnt ... connect. Bittorent files won't connect to the tracker. In Acqusition, the file searches and everything. But when I try to DL, NONE of the files connect at all. They are forever in "connecting..." and then eventually "no sources". The same story for all file sharing apps. Can anyone help? I think I've always had this problem with my new MBP but been too lazy to fix it.

I don't have OS X firewall on or any other virus protection program..

I'm using airport and a home network to connect to the internet. My brother's iBook in the same network has no problems like mine. So I am thinking something is wrong with my network port configs are something like that. I have no idea where to start. Help please? Thanks!

You need to port-forward 6881 to 6999 to the client running BitTorrent. The process for doing this differs from router to router. It's usually under "Port Forwarding" or "Forwarding" in the setup menu.

The reason you need to do this is because BitTorrent is a connectionless protocol that needs to accept connections from remote machines. If your router doesn't forward those incoming requests to your client, then nothing will work (usually -- sometimes trackers will deal with blind clients).
