Seems I cannot get the airport to save my settings to log onto my linksys wirelessly. I have to put in the wep code ever time I fire up airport. Anyone else having this problem? Have seen apples articles about using wpa but still no luck. Have tried everything. it does seem to remember until i shut down my imac 24 inch. Suggestions?

Welcome! But ALL network-related questions (wired or wireless) go in the Networking forum. I'll move this there-but this is your only freebee.

And you DO NOT want to depend on WEP. You need WPA. Big difference: WPA is actually secure. And it's easier to set up and maintain than WEP.

Now, about your setup. Which Linksys device do you have? And tell us about the rest of your network-what kind of broadband service do you have, what kind of router (if different from your "linksys"), etc.

I have a linksys WRT54G wireless router. I have DSL. I have the router not to broadcast. I currently us WEP. Now, I have a powerbook G4 and log in all the time. All my info is saved on the powerbook so I don't have to put in the wep security code. Works great.
Now, I have a new iMac 24 inch. This is my first intel mac. I have gone into every setting I can do to input all the info to log onto the wireless linksys. Once I close the airport connection, all information is lost and I have to input all information again. I have use assist me and diagnostics on the network program in system preference. I even verified the info in keychain and its their.
I have read posts on apples discussions forum and seems I am not alone. One post states he contacted apple support and they are stumped on this one. I have tried using WPA too. I can get it to work but once I shut down airport, Its gone and have to input all information again. I have even left airport on, shut down the iMac, turned it back on to see if it would retain the info, nope.
Any suggestions?
