My brother in law was just given a G4 tower (450 Mhz model) and I am trying to help him out with it a bit- he's a Mac convert after trying to edit and burn a DVD of a short film on windoze for a contest. Needless to say, much went south and he entered a movie that was virtually unwatchable.

Anyway, I probably know the answer, but what wireless card will fit and work in this G4? Only the original airport card, or will the extreme card work as well? And what about PCI slot wireless cards?

And could a graphite airport base station be connected to the ethernet port and be used as a receiver instead of a transmitter?

Thanks-

Val

1. It will only accept the original Airport card, no Airport Extreme.

2. PCI cards need to be Broadcom chip based. If you can find one OS 10.2.6 and above will recognize it as an Airport card. Non-Broadcom cards won't work natively, so you'd have to get a driver for OS X, if even available.

3. No, graphite base stations cannot act as bridges.

This is the one I just picked up for my G4. Works beautifully.
