So i'm on my macbook and want to transfer files from my NAS to my Mac Mini downstairs . . . does anyone know if I need special software to access my mini's desktop?

I'm trying to access both of them through my network and just drag and drop, but it's taking forever to transfer . . .

Its wireless, its going to be slow, unless you're saying a 1MB file takes 5 minutes to transfer. If that is happening then your wireless signal must not be very good or one of the wireless devices is faulty.

Enable VNC on both and connect to one or the other with Chicken of the VNC. As you control one of them proceed to intiate the direct transfer.
