Hi there. I posted this question in the wrong section, I see, so I am reposting it here. Sorry about that. I have a graphite iMac 350 CD with 40 GB HD and 640 MB SD Ram, cable internet connection. I am looking to go wireless and am not sure specifically what I need. I know I need an airport card and a router, but not sure what exactly. I was told my computer was not compatible with the Airport Extreme card. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

These guys want waaay too much for the card, but this is the one. eBay is a good place to actually get it.

You also might consider a wireless bridge, often also called a wireless game adapter. It could be moved to another device at a later date. An Airport card would likely be useless outside of the iMac.

Apple and Linksys routers are very good quality in general, with the latter being cheaper. Any 802.11g or 802.11b router should work, however. If there is a computer plugged directly into an existing modem or router already, a simple cheap wireless adapter could be used with internet connection sharing. This would save money, but add set-up complexity.
