hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to install the Linksys WRE54G Range Expander with a mac? I want to link it to my Linksys WRT54GL Router.
Ive called linksys but they don't support mac .
Hope u guys can help me!!

Read Chapter 6 in the manual. Like almost all other network equipment on the market today, you can configure this device with your web browser.

Those "quick setup" utilities are for people who have to get help to tie their shoes, and it's no big loss that they don't run on Macs.

thanks for your reply, i tried to configure it with my browser (safari) but i can't get into the configuration screen. I think it has to do with the ip-address of the range expander. If i type the ip-adres 192.168.1.240 (default ip) nothing happens. ive tried other ip addresses too.

You also need to make sure your computer is on a compatible address. What you should do before trying to configure the device is to manually set your computer's built in ethernet adapter to an address like 192.168.1.50 and then give it a try. I'll bet that your Powerbook is set up on some other IP range.

There also might be a problem with Safari and its java implementation-give it a try with Firefox or Camino if the above doesn't do the trick.
