Open Terminal and type "ifconfig" (without the quotes, of course). en0 should be your built in ethernet adapter, and en1 should be the AirPort card-see what IP address ifconfig reports (it reports a LOT of data, look for a number of the form 123.123.123.123). If the number starts with "169...." then your computer doesn't have an IP at all (169. numbers are "self assigned" because network adapters have to have some IP, even one that doesn't work at all).
Depending on your router brand and model, you could have almost any other IP range show up. Linksys, for example, uses 192.168.1.X by default.
If you're getting a good IP, can you ping ANYTHING? Like forums.macnn.com? I get an IP for that address of 207.58.150.184 at the moment.
