Is it possible to put an Airport Card into an older Mac? I have a 1GHz dual mirrored door drive Power Mac G4. If possible, can you recommend a model number for this card? I have an Airport Extreme Base Station that is connected to a MacBook Pro. Will the wireless Airport Card that I potentially put in the G4 slow down the Airport Extreme to the original Airport speed? I vaguely rember reading something a while ago about the older Airport Card slowing down the entire system using Airport Extreme.
Thanks,
Lou

The original AirPort card is what your computer is built for. Finding one can be a challenge, but eBay and Craig's List are your friends.

An AirPort Extreme Base Station is compatible with both 802.11g (Extreme) and 802.11b (Original) systems. You should not notice a slowdown because an 802.11b client joins your network. The buzz about older cards slowing networks was 90% buzz and 10% "some base stations" rather than a real, widespread issue.

Good luck in finding that card!

That's what I was worried about. Where do I look? eBay? smalldog? Newegg? and what exactly am I looking for? Do I need a model number? I'm pretty clueless on how to go about getting this.

I missed the first sentence in ghporter's answer - hence I'm asking questions on what was already answered. Sorry and thanks for the help.
