ans I am not talking about not getting any signal, but rather about the fact that my MBP tells I have no airport!!! It just died like that. Restarting did not help. Anybody has seen something similar??

all right replying to myself. Ifound out on the Apple Discussions that resetting the PMU restores the Airport functionality. It worked for me.

So did it just stop? Did you load some new update? What brought about the issue in the first place? Inquiring minds want to know and all that...

It just stopped. Basically I did not see any network at first in the airport desktop menu, then upon restarting the computher that menu was gone. When I tried to set up airport using the assistant it told me there was no airport card installed.
In the network panel, airport was grayed out.

Here is the thread I mentioned. Same thing happened to me. I wonder is this is somehow related to bluetooth since I just started using it with my new bluetooth enabled cell phone.

This is very interesting. Having the PMU "forget" about a device is not good. I hope to see a firmware update that addresses this VERY soon.
