Hello, there!

Well, I'm a new user of Macintosh.
I'm having some problems to configure my network.
I'm conected to the internet by a hub. In this hub is also conected my brother's PC.
What I want is to conect my Mac to his PC.
The PC can see my Mac and my Mac also can see the PC but they aren't get conected. When I try to make a conection from my Mac or from the PC, there is an error message.
My computer is a Mac Mini Power PC G4.

There is another problem.
I use the aMule but it always gets a low ID and the message says that it can because a firewall. The conection gets very slow.

How can disable the firewall for complete? Is it possible? Is it secure?

Thanks for the help!

Exactly what do you mean by 'connect?' You want to share files? Here's the way I know:
-On the Mac, go to System Preferences, and click 'Sharing.'
-Check Windows Sharing, and select the users that are allowed to access it
-Take note at the bottom of the window where it says 'Windows users can access your computer at' and write down that address
-Now go to the PC, open up network places, and click on 'Add a Network Place'
-Click next, then click 'Choose another location' and click next
-Now enter the address you wrote down into the box and click next

It should connect and ask for your name and password and everything should work.

And as far as your aMule problems go, check This site. The firewall you're having problems with is most likely a router on your side. You can google for instructions on how to open ports on your specific router.

Welcome to the MacNN Forums! I'm moving this thread to our Networking forum because ALL networking issues go there.

Basically, following Gossamer's suggestions should get you going toward where you want to be.

I'm really glad with your help but I'm still having problems.

The PC found my Mac. And it really asked for a name and a password.
What is this name?
I thought it was the name of my Mac and my password.
Well, I've tried them but the connection wasn't stabilished.
What is the Macintosh.local?

Sorry to disturb you again with this.

Thanks for the pacience.

eduberaldo, why will you want to connect a mac to a PC? If you want to share files you can still be connect to the internet independently through the hub/router and bypass the nonsense, of dealing with/through the PC. The pass word most probably is the one for your brother PC. Now if the hub is a usb 2 hub the file sharing should be a drag and drop deal, atleast from PC to mac pov (point of view). The other way around? I wish you well. Tell your brother to get a mac. Even better get him one and this will not be a issue, never again. Gossmer already gave you the detail instruction. The other ways are to copy to a removable device such as External HD ,usd flash, zip, CD etc and then run it on mac. I am sorry that you are put in to a situation where mac advantage is eclipsed by PC burden. Don't give up.

Well, I'll try my brother's PC password.
Friends, I can connect to the internet even whithout sharing files with my brother's PC. That's not a problem. I just wanted to make things easier to exchange files with the PC.

Thank's again for all the help.
