Hi all,

First time poster on this forum, as well as a soon to be iMac 20" user (Tuesday is arrival date). I'm trying to get all of my PC files (video, pix, music, etc) in order to transfer over to Mac, but plan to keep the PC for the kids to use. I have a wireless setup today, with desktop as Host and my wife's laptop linking via wireless.

My question is how should I consider setting up my new network? The Mac and PC desktop will be in office area downstairs, with my wife's PC upstairs. Should I use the PC as host and let Mac tie into network like laptop is doing or use Mac as host and let PC's tie into that. The other option I've considered is getting another network cable and connect router to Mac and let the PC's deal with each other and have Mac as stand alone.

Any input or feedback on this setup would be great. Tuesday won't come soon enough as I'm looking forward to getting everything setup ASAP so I can park that old PC for good!

thanks in advance!

So I have a wireless network setup at home w/ 1 PC laptop, 1 PC desktop, 1 G4 Powerbook, 1 iMac G4 20"...and they're all wireless.

On the PC you want to share files from, just share the appropriate directories. Then from your Mac, browse the "Network". It will eventually show the "Workgroup" PC network (or whatever you've renamed it), and you'll be able to get at it from your Mac and copy your files.

I'm not sitting in front of my Mac right now, but if you need more specific "menu" type help, I can log on later.
