Hi All:
Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered before, but I did a search and could not find anything related to my specific problem.
I have a Macbook (black) and am attempting to set up a wireless connection via a graphite base station (Model # M7601LL/B). This is the original base station Apple came out with back in 1999.
The base station was a hand me down from a friend who upgraded a while back. Problem is when I attempt to set up wireless connection, it asks for a password, which neither of us have. I then attempted to reset the base station by inserting a the edge of a paperclip in the small hole on the bottom until the green lights turned to red.
I then went back into my airport setup assistant and this time it asked me to locate the appropriate wireless network. Only problem is, nothing shows up. I clicked "rescan," and still nothing. However, my airport signal bar up at the top shows a full signal coming from base station. I opened Safari, and am not able to connect.
Does anyone here know what I'm doing wrong and/or whether it is even possible to use the older model base station with a Macbook?
Should I attempt to install the airport software that came in the box? I have been reluctant to do so fearing that it would harm my computer given that it is so old...
Any assistance you could provide would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
