So here's a theory -

What do we think about the possibility that I could buy a new Airport Extreme card from the Apple Store once this 802.11n enabler becomes available, get that software, stick that card in my 12-inch G4 Powerbook and have 802.11n in my lappie?

Yes / no? Not a snowball's chance in heck?

1) Apple won't sell 802.11n Airport Extreme cards

2) Even if they did, your Powerbrick doesn't have the right antennas for 802.11n

heedlix, WELCOME to the MacNN Forums! However, we have a WHOLE forum just for network-related issues, and this thread should have been there to begin with. Moving...

Oh, and they WON'T come out with anything new for your PB. They may not come out with anything in N for my "almost the last one" Core Duo (NOT C2D) MacBook Pro.

Belkin has a 802.11n series called "N1", and they offer N cards in both PCMCIA (powerbook) and ExpressCard34 (MacbookPro).

not sure if they're mac compatible, but they were showing off the cards at Macworld a couple weeks ago.

I think Belkin uses Atheros chipsets in their N1 gear, which is what apple's 802.11n chipsets in the core2duo macs use. So maybe if Belkin doesn't have osx drivers afterall, the Airport enabler will allow this card to work?
