The rundown:

-Running cable broadband wirelessly with a NetGear RangeMax (WPN824).
-Using XTorrent 1.0 (v26).

The problem:

My wireless connection crashes when I use BitTorrent. I have BT port forwarded so I have connected to up to 70 users and got speeds up to 350kb/s. I contacted my ISP and asked them to give me the skinny from their side. They said that I am not over using bandwidth, so it's not because of them cutting me off. So I figure it is the router itself crashing because it cannot handle the immense connections BT throws at it.

So what I need to know is how can I configure BitTorrent to limit the amount of connections it's getting so my router wont crash? Is there a better BT client I could use?

This was posted in the Apps section and I got zero responses, so I am trying this here now.

1) Make sure port forwarding is correct and that the port is open

Transmission :: View topic - Port Forwarding FAQ

Sorry about the Google Cache link but their server seems to be down

2) If you have OSX's firewall on make sure that you follow the above link to open the port that you are using.

I used Shields Up! and the port is open, and I just added XTorrent to the firewall services.

I will try it out tonight and I will let you know how it goes.

No dice, the bastard crashed on me again. It seems to only happen after about an hour of constant downloading.

Any other ideas? Different BT client?

I'll steer clear of Azureus then.

It happened again today. Basically the router crashes and loses my internet connection totally, so my modem and router need to be reset.
