I've been searching, or at least trying to, for a way to disallow my macbook pro to connect to certain wireless networks, as well as setting an order of preferred networks. I move around a lot on campus, and I live in the city. The result is that more often than not i end up connected to the city's pay-wireless. Though it's just a nuisance, it would be nice not to have to switch wireless networks every time I leave for class or come back.

in the system preferences, go to network. select the airport and set up the list for preferred networks. you might be set up to automatically add networks you connect to to the preferred list. under there is a button that says options. click that. in the drop down menu, select ask to join a network if no preferred networks are found.
