Hello,

The subject says it all...what is the least expensive way to get my iMac DVSE on a wireless network? It's a secondary computer, so I'm thinking cheap. If, on the other hand, there is reason to spend a little more for future network options, please let me know.

Any help is appreciated...thanks!

USB wireless dongle - pros: inexpensive (extremely). cons: not all such dongles have Mac drivers

Ethernet bridge - pros: works for anything with an ethernet port. cons: more expensive than a dongle

Both: research time to find one you like, can afford, and that will do what you want.

Check out the "usual suspect" vendor sites like Newegg for these two types of hardware and see what you find.

You can get a cheap router at CompUSA or Fry's etc. and set it up as a wireless bridge. Then use and ethernet cable to attach the iMac. That is how I have connected my old iMac DV to my wireless network. I think this is better than using a USB dongle, because the Mac compatible dongles are a bit pricey and uncertain for the older iMac, whereas a router/bridge is more universal in terms of compatibility.

If you want to go the USB wireless way, check these guys out:

AftertheMac Mac USB Wireless Adapters

about $50 for a mac dongle, I would suggest that you have USB 2.0 if you go this way, but it is a nice USB solution. I also like the suggestion about of setting up a wireless ethernet bridge, you could probably do that for $30 or so.
