I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if anyone could please help me set up my wireless router or point me in a direction that can offer help.

I have a MacBook and just got a Linksys WRT54G Ver. 6. I really don't know hot to configure anything. Thanks for the help.

You might want to check out the Networking forum and your router's user manual. Basically the WAN (wide area network) side of the router must get an address from your DSL or cable modem and distribute local addresses to the machines on your LAN (local area network) through wireless or wired connections. The router "routes" between the two sides.

I would bet that on the bottom of the router is the instructions for how to access the administrative tools. Connect your computer to a lan port on the router and enter the ip address on the bottom. I would also guess that either in the manual or on the bottom is the default username and password. Also, there might be some software with it that could help you, although it may be windows only. I would recommend reading some of the manual and returning with a more pointed questions. Setting up a home network is not difficult, the learning curve is surmountable in a few hours, but with out details about your existing setup no one can just tell you what to do.

The user guide can be found here.
The manual states the default router address (for administration and settings) is 192.168.1.1
The username is blank and the password is admin.
Change those As. Soon. As. Possible.
