We are moving soon, and while at the moment I have a wireless router for internet access, in the new place I'd like to be able to stream music/radio wirelessly into more than one room.

What is the best way to do this? Say there are 3 or 4 rooms that I want to install speakers in, one of these rooms will house the router and computer when we get a desktop. (Currently using the PBG4 at home).

I know I can set up airport extreme in one of the rooms (one with the router?) and airport expresses in the other rooms for the speaker attachements??..that seems like an expensive and clumsy to do it. I'd appreciate any tips.

I'd have to know more about the house before I could advise you. To start with, how large is the house, what sort of construction is it, and how close together are these three or four rooms you want speakers in? Range is a factor because you will want a minimum signal quality (which translates into a sustainable data rate) to run streaming audio.

It's a flat ( apartment to you) an old stone victiran building so pretty solid construction. theres a central hallway which runs through the home and two of the rooms are at one end pretty much opposite eachother and the other two at the other end - directly opposite eachother. The corridor is about 8 to10 metres in length. All on one floor.

Does that help?

jbleisure, bristol UK? PM me and I'll give you some pointers on specific kit that's available in the UK that will help you make some decisions. I have a 3-storey house, throughout which I am able to stream video and music into various rooms, all configured via a mix of v hi-spec router, Airport Expresses, Elgato's EyeHome and a couple of inexpensive wireless bridges.

cms is bound to have a better handle on what's easily available in your area than I am. But your biggest problem is going to be that 8-10 meter (yes, I know we spell it oddly) hallway. If the rooms were clustered right next to each other that would be no problem. As it is, with stone and brick (VERY sturdy stuff, but also VERY bad for radio signals) construction you may have problems getting any connection at all between the two ends of the hallway. In this case I'd do something like... I dunno. I have techniques for offices with drop ceilings, and for residential, wood-frame construction. But it's my understanding that a lot of interior walls in older construction are also brick and mortar, so I'm kind of out of ideas.
