Wondering if anyone has experience with, and can advise on, using a Linksys WGA11B Wireless-B Game Adapter to connect a G3 iMac to a home wireless network? I'm told it can be done but haven't been able to figure it out. Predictable, Mac-phobic Linksys has been entirely uncooperative. Any suggestions?

The G3 will connect via Ethernet. Ethernet is a driverless technology so it will just work. The only part you will have to fiddle with is getting that Linksys device to bridge to whatever wireless router you're using. Unless the main base station is a Linksys router, then that is likely where you will have the connectivity problems.

Linksys is Mac "ignorant", not "phobic." There is a LOT about Macs that is not anywhere near the same as with PCs and so they chose to provide the (very much needed) support for PCs, while Macs just do not need much support at all. They "just work," remember? And that's true with Linksys networking products.

Log into the game adapter through its browser interface (the IP is in the manual) and you'll be fine. You MUST connect via a cable, but that's not a big deal. You may also need to provide your iMac a manual IP address-use something like 192.168.1.5, because Linksys defaults all of their equipment (that I know of) to the 192.168.1.x subnet. Once you plug in and type the appropriate IP into your browser's address bar, you should be able to use all the settings the manual talks about. You do NOT need any stupid "wizard" CD or any of that garbage they provide for PCs because it's so simple to set up these things manually.

And you're also unlikely to have connectivity problems with a Linksys wireless router or access point either-I'm using BOTH right now. Just read the manual and follow the instructions. You can ask questions here if you need to, because sometimes Apple uses terminology that's very different from that used by the rest of the industry.
