What kind of computer do you have? Are you sure that the others are really open (ie they may have MAC address restrictions). Have you ever been able to (ie is this a new problem?)

Hmmm ... Do you know if other computers can connect to the Lynksys? Are you sure it is not a problem with that unit's settup? Can you post a screenshot of your wireless settings?

Did you get this fixed? You can use ctrl + shift + Apple key to take screenshots. Taking a look at you prefs might help.

Is it "WEP" or something like WPA? This is important because AirPort devices interpret inputs for WEP differently. If you're entering a plain text string (as in "this is my key") rather than hex characters, THAT is your problem right there.

To make your AirPort device accept a hex key, precede the key with a dollar sign ('$') (without quotes). To convert an AirPort "password" to the hex WEP key AirPort makes from it, you need to convert the characters to their ASCII equivalents (manually you can use this chart to do it), then string them together.

I should note that it's typical for an AirPort card to report "connected" when it has a signal but not the WEP key.
