Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a small AirPort network between a PowerBook G4 and a MacBook, using AirPort Extreme (PRE the current n-model). I have a WD Passport USB2 external hard drive connected to the MacBook, which I want to be able to mount on the PowerBook when connecting via this network. When I connect, however, I can mount the MacBook's internal hard drive (and my home folder separately, which I think is weird)... but I don't see the external drive. Any ideas for how I can set this up?
Thanks a lot,
--Jeremy

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I tried using Sharepoints, but the external hard drive was still not visible. Interestingly, though, I tried connecting while the Sharepoints install disk image was still mounted on the MacBook, and I was able to mount that on the PowerBook. Maybe I'm not setting up the share correctly?
Thanks again for your help!

OK, just realized the problem is because the disk is FAT-formatted. Any ideas on how to share anyway?

Why not just backup what's on the external drive and reformat it?

How is the disk being FAT-formatted a problem? Macs can read and write to FAT32 partitions without any problems.

When I first pulled my WD drive out of the box, I hooked it up to my G4 and it mounted just fine on that machine. Over the network my Macbook could see the G4's HD, but not the WD drive. Reformatting to HFS+ instantly solved that problem. The WD manual also instructs Mac users to reformat to HFS+. I don't know any of the whats or whys, but that was my experience.
