Hi, i have bought a D-link DWA-642 notebookadapter, that fits in the pcia card slot, and i can't seem to see it, i also have downloaded something, that was supposed to work as a driver, but nothing happens. Before i waste more time i was wondering if anyone knows for sure, of any card ( if this one also) that works and that is 802.11g of course?

Also if anyone can tell me what is specific to the pismo technology i should look for on the boxes at the store, because of course they never mention Mac' s or almost never, even if they most of the tim will be compatible.

Thanks alot

Manon

The Motorola WN825G 802.11g PCMCIA card works without drivers in OS X. OS X is "fooled" into thinking its an Airport Extreme card because it has the same Broadcom chipset. These can often be found on ebay for under $20

Based on your experience, I would assume it is not. There are a variety of different chipsets used. Most PCMCIA wifi cards made for PC laptops would require special drivers (if available) to work on Mac. Best bet is to pick one that you know will work (like the Motorola model I mentioned which will work natively in OS X without drivers). Good luck.
