I got a new router today (Netgear WNR854T) and I have an iMac G5 and a Powerbook G4 that I use quite a bit on a wireless connection. I upgraded to the latest firmware and have managed to get connected through a wired connection, but I am having problems with the wireless...
Anyone else have issues with this router and Airport Express? I cannot for the life of me get the SSID to show up in my Airport menu. This is driving me nuts... I have tried reseting the router and did the proper boot up procedure:
1. Shut off all equipment (computer, router, cable modem)
2. Turn on modem (wait 2 minutes)
3. Turn on router (wait 2 minutes)
4. Turn on computer
5. Test settings...
Like I said I get a conenction through a wired connection, but when I setup the wireless it does not show up. My settings are as follows for the wireless:
Channel: Auto
Mode: Up to 145 Mbps
Security: WPA-PSK [TKIP] (I have also tried none for testing purposes)
Wireless Router Settings:
Enable Wireless Router Radio
Enable SSID Broadcast
Fragmentation Threshold 2346 (I cannot change this - greyed out)
CTS/RTS Threshold 2346
Wireless Optimization Settings: 11 b/g/n Mixed mode
Now... in the manual it says that if the SSID is not set on the adapter I will not see a network...? I didn't think you could set an SSID for the Airport adapter... at least I never have in the past and was able to see networks...
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I need my wireless back.
