Need professional advise. I want to connect my mac pro to my 24 inch iMac. Since my mac pro doesn't have wireless, i want to use the iMacs wireless connects for doing updates only. Otherwise, i don't want it connected to the net. I do want to be able to share files between them though. Do I have to buy apple server to do this or can i connect the two with an ethernet cable and turn on file sharing a have the iMac share internet connection? tnks

Possible solutions:

1. You can directly connect your Mac Pro and the iMac for file sharing.

2. Use Bluetooth file sharing between the 2 Macs.

3. Another simpler solution is for both Macs to be on the same network (e.g. connected to your switch/router) and then simply configuring your switch/router/firewall to NOT allow Internet access to your Mac.

Thanks for the replies. I know about file sharing but wanted to use the iMacs wireless connection since the macpro has no wireless or bluetooth. The wireless router is in the living room and the macs are in the bedroom. I will experiment with it and try. If not, guess I'll get a long ethernet cable.
