I need some help...

I want to enable 'Windows Sharing' on my mac so that, obviously, I can let all the Windows PC users in my house share my files. But I don't want to share absolutely everything on my mac. For some reason, all my folders and files can be browsed through on a Windows PC when i've enabled 'Windows Sharing' on my mac.

How can i make it so that only my 'Public' folder is shared??

If your user account on your Mac is password-protected, nobody can access your stuff unless they know the password. The only possible window share that they could connect to without inputting the correct user name and password is the Drop Box (Public Folder).

thats entirely not the case with my setup

My Macbook is password protected. But all my folders and files can be browsed through over the network on any windows PC in the house. When the 'enter username and password' dialogue box appears on windows when trying to connect to my mac, i can leave both boxes blank (dont enter anything)- click OK and it still lets me access?? Its very odd.

Do you mean what have i turned on for sharing?

Windows Sharing and Printer Sharing. Then i've enabled my OS X account for Windows Sharing. As far as im aware there is no setting to select which folders to share on the network (i think this feature is going to be part of Leopard however). Unless im wrong?

I may be wrong, but I think that if you don't check Personal File Sharing then everything gets shared. For that reason, we have our Macs set up with Windows Sharing and Personal File Sharing both enabled. (We have a print server to handle the printer functions.)

Check the permissions on these folders. Regardless of how Samba is configured, without the necessary permissions the folders will not be readable.
