I am trying to set up a system to do wireless printing, preferably with the equipment that I have now. Currently, I have a PC hooked up to my HP Business Inkjet 1100. All of my printing is controlled through my PC. However, most of my work is done on my MacBook or MacBook Pro. To print, I send a copy of the file to a shared folder which is opened on the PC and printed. While a solution, it is becoming a bit annoying.
I have a wireless network running and am wondering what I can do to use the printer from one of my Macs wirelessly. Would purchasing an Airport work? Additionally, I have a Brother Intellifax 4100 that up to this point has been solely used as a fax machine. Could that possibly be used?
I looked at the HP site and that the HP Jetdirect 200m internal LIO print server can be used to network. Is there any other option for something to be used as a print server? Could the PC function as a print server for the printer it is connected to? I obviously have no experience w/ networking besides plugging my router in. Thanks for your help in advance.
