So, I have a new Airport Extreme with 2 WD Hard Drives and a Maxtor drive connected to it via a netgear USB hub . . . . i'm trying to connect to them via my 24" iMac, but every time I do, the wireless connection cuts out and I can't connect to the drives. . . . . I can connect to my mac mini and macbook and both transfer files fine . . has anyone had similar problems and if so, how did you fix it? does anyone have any suggestions?

What happens when you INDIVIDUALLY connect each drive to the AE? What happens when you connect ONLY THE HUB? Assuming the hub doesn't kill the AE, what happens as you add each drive? At some point in there, your complex setup is somehow introducing a glitch. It may be the number of drives, the hub, the mix of drives, which ports on the hub they're connected to, or something else. However, I don't think Apple envisioned the AE being host to a few terabytes of USB drive while also performing network functions...

the thing is that it all worked perfectly before . . . . i'll try connecting them separately and see what that does. Thanks for the quick response!

Looks like it was an issue with the USB Hub . . . also from what I've read on apple.com, the apple extreme is capable of supporting multiple hard drives through a usb hub. I'll go get another one and let you know.

Indeed it is. It supports multiple HDDs and printers attached to a powered USB hub. I'd try adding each device by itself and see if it works. Then I'd add one after the other to the hub. If at one point it stops working, I'd blame the hub.
