Hi All,

I'm trying to transfer a mere 28GB to a 320GB USB drive attached to my Airport Extreme base station, but I keep getting "error code -50" when copying more than one file or folder.

The site www.appleerrorcodes.com lists this error code as "-50 paramErr Error in user parameter list". Not helpful, any ideas as to how to correct the problem? It's taking hours of sitting watching each file transfer, and then copying over another, to get this task done.

This is only one of the problems I'm having now that I have this Airport base station on my network, a bit disappointing.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

What format is the drive? FAT32 has a 4gb file size limit.

Hmm, excellent question. I'm pretty sure I reformatted it to HFS

Be that as it may, none of the files I was copying over were over 4GB, I was definitely getting the error when copying two files of 300MB each.

Thanks for the question,

Chas

Is the drive connected directly to your Mac AirPort Extreme, or through a hub? Are you using GOOD cables? Is the error consistent in timing and the activity you're doing when it happens (as in does it always show up after a specific file, after a specific amount of time, or something else?)?

Oops, I meant "AirPort" not "Mac" but it was early...

Have you tried it with the drive connected directly to your computer? That would enable you to know whether the problem is the drive or the airport.
