Hi all
I seem to be having a problem with connecting to my personal server outside of my network. When I connect using a static IP within my network(192.168.1.x) I can connect fine using my Mac and PC so I've ruled out improper server settings. I've mapped a port (21) to the same static IP as my server, but I cannot connect. I am prompted with "An FTP Connection to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" could not be opened because the FTP server dropped the connection" I think I've toggled every option in the Airport Utility but nothing seems to work. Has anybody been successful in making this work?

Thanks for any help offered

I managed to get mine working last night after all this time. I updated to 7.1.1, though I'm not sure if this was part of the solution. What made a difference was in the Internet>DHCP tab, rather than having the "DHCP Beginning Address" set to the default (192.168.1.2) I switched it to 192.168.1.1. Under the NAT tab I checked off "Enable default host at" and set this to my server's internal IP, in my case it was 192.168.1.4 and left the "Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol" unchecked. In the port forwarding section for some reason I can't get connect to the my ftp under port 21 so I changed this setting in my server software and forwarded the same port in the Airport Utility. I don't fully understand all that I did, especially "DHCP Beginning Address" but it worked out for me. Let me know if theses settings works for you as well. Good Luck!

I can't say that I am following your logic. I'll work with this some more over the next day or two and get back to you. I am a little reluctant to experiment b/c at least I have Apple Remote Desktop working when I am away.
