Roadrunner just came and insisted in installing a Netgear C6814 a combo wireless router and cable modem.
Using my Powerbook, the tech was able to get the wireless to work. However, I cannot get my Intel iMac to connect to the new wireless network. He attempted to, but when asked the password both the password I chose and the key were considered to be "invalid". Saying he knew little about Macs, he gave up.
Any ideas of getting the iMac connected to the wireless network.
Extra credit question: I also have an Airport Express and Airport basestation that I would consider connecting throughout the house. Any suggestions in connecting these to this Netgear system?
I almost wish I made him just let me connect the old modem to my Airport Express and I could go from there.
Thanks

Nevermind.
Got it to work. Had to grant access to the iMac through the Netgear system prefs.
Now to set up the Express...

It sounds like the Netgear came set up for better security than most routers have out of the box. This is a Good Thing™ believe it or not. Most boxes start out talking to anything in the world-including that guy in his car out front, who you've never met... Glad you got it working. Do report on how setting up the Express goes.

The only problem so far with the Netgear set up is that if I reset the iMac, it no longer will connect to my network. I have to go through the Airport assistant to connect. I have then retype the long key to allow the computer to connect. I wish it was just an easy password, but it's the long 30 character key...
Any suggestions now to avoid this?
I'll work on the Express and Airport Extreme later.

I have netgear as well but seperate router and modem, they are a very good router and certainly cheaper compare linksys. I also had problem when first installing the router with the password but we figured it out the WEP password we have to use is the one that the system gave us not the one we created.
