Ok so yesterday I posted about putting a password on my wireless signal... Not long after posting it started acting funny and then stopped working in general. So now Im back to being wired... I was wondering if someone would tell me EXACTLY the right way to use the Linksys WRT54GS without screwing up my hole network again.... I was on hold with linksys for an hour until a foreign guy picked up and ended up telling me that Mac's werent compatible...um i happen to know quite a few mac users that have linksys wireless routers... but anyway... if anyone could please help I would be much obliged. Thanks.

First, the worst thing about Linksys' products is their lack of tech support of any kind for any platform.

Second, have you actually tried to follow the instructions in the manual that came with your router? They are pretty good. Of course you should skip past the "use the wizard" part, but after that there is a set of detailed, step-by-step procedures for doing everything the moron bait wizard does.

Well ok, first things first. What is your 'hole network'? What do you have aside from the Mac you are using? I presume you have a cable modem or DSL? Then that is plugged into your 54? If you reset your router, can you get everything to work without the password? Is there anything else odd about your settup? Any other computers on the network? Any more info than 'acting funny'?

A manual didnt come with it. On the box it said RUN CD FIRST in huge letters. So i guess they expect you to have windows to run the cd.

Sorry, My WHOLE network is a whopping two Macs. An iMac and a Macbook. Both running the most up-to-date Tiger.

Cable Modem

All the sh!t hit the fans when I started to try and mess with the password. Acting funning means going as slow as a 56k modem or probably slower. And there really is nothing odd about my setup.

Tommy, go to Linksys' site, and find the manual-which may actually be on that CD in PDF form (check there first).

OK, so everything works, until you try to encrypt the network. What encryption are you using? Please describe the steps you are taking before you get the network slowdowns.
