Ever since AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002 or 003 (can't remember which) my MacBook drops it's wireless connection to my Netgear DG834G (802.11g) router regular as clockwork every 2-2.5 days. Any attempt to rejoin the network gives me a beachball and then "Error joining the network" message.
I know this is an OSX networking problem becuase 1) My housemate's iBook G4 still works fine with the router, 2) My MacBook totally stopped working with another Netgear router, a WGT634U, at the same time which I simply ended up replacing.
The only solution I've found to reconnect to the network is to reboot my MacBook which obviously becomes pretty tedious if done every 2-2.5 days. Is there a way of fixing this problem, or a way of just rebooting the wireless networking bit of OSX so I don't have to shut down the whole system?
Many thanks,
John F.

Have you tried deleting your AirPort location and creating a new one (or if you're using Automatic, simply creating a new location)? That seems to help with this kind of issue.

I had a similar issue that was resolved by deleting the keychain and creating a new one. (My encryption ws read as WEP every so often even though it was set as WPA?!)

Thanks for those suggestions, will give them a go next time my connection dies - should be in the next couple of hours...

Deleting and creating a new location should create a new keychain entry, which in theory should ensure that it's read correctly. Deleting the keychain and creating a new one is the next step, because if the location trick doesn't work in this situation, the whole keychain is corrupted and needs to be dumped anyway.
