I use a a Buffalo AirStation B/G/A wireless card in my TiBook. It's been having a lot of problems lately, especially today. Today it has dropped connection to my router entirely about 5-6 times at least (It doesn't even see the router until I try reconnecting several times). Sometimes, when I plug it in, my mouse pointer freezes and I have to eject it and keep reinserting it several times to get it to actually work. And if I don't take it out before booting the laptop, it prevents it from booting (I get the start up sound, but then the screen stays black), and if I leave it in and my Powerbook goes to sleep, it refuses to wake from sleep. I've had it for too long to ask the website I got it from for an exchange, but I'm about to take it out and throw it around my room because it's just aggravating me that much.

I know it's well within range of my router, as it's in the same area where I used to use my iBook, and my AirPort Extreme never had any major problems.

I need a fix that's going to make this more stable without costing me a lot of money. Any help would be appreciated, because I really want to just have more than a 12 hour period per week of actual smooth running.

Let's make sure we're all looking at this properly. Do you have another wireless computer you can use to ensure that the router is staying online? You don't mention what router you have, so I can't say anything about it in terms of reliability, but the most fundamental rule of troubleshooting is making sure you're shooting the right trouble!

First establish which end of the wireless connection is stopping. After that we can look at fixing it.
