so i got this from my boss at work cause we just upgraded to a newer one. general question, would a smallllll home network gain any benefits from this?

the only thing i could think of is a VPN tunnel but i dont even know if you can set up a VPN without a static IP from my ISP.

If it's free, go for it. It's not going to speed anything up, though, it's just a firewall and VPN gateway.

You need AN IP. There are a lot of ways to have access to an external IP. I wish I could remember what the most common process was called...

Once you know what your external IP is, you just have to make sure you have a port open for the VPN to enter on. That's probably one of the major features of the little box you took home.
