OK, I am sure this problem has been solved before.. but I really need some help. Just bought a SimpleShare NAS for a central backup and as ITunes media server. Then I realized that the ITunes File names are going to give me a headache with SMB as the server protocol. Wanted to swtich to NFS... but I am running into deep water here. Does anybody have some experience here? Running MacOS 10.4.10 - how to set this up correctly (mount / automount, synchron asynchron file transfer.. etc??)

Appreciate any help

Welcome to our forums!

I have to ask you why the iTunes file names are going to be a problem. They haven't been for me, and I'm using SMB with my CoolMax CN550 for both Macs and PCs to access my iTunes library.

Ah.. reading is believing.. I was reading that SMB and ITunes would be an issue due to the name restrictions, but you are correct. It works flawless under SMB cifs. So I do have a mount sript now for my Simpleshare NAS, however, when I start up my computer and have the mount script running it takes some time to connect to the server.. in the terminal I do get the following message.. I assume that is a normal thing or did I setup something incorrect?

Cheers and thanks for answering.. you save me from a big headache..

Some network drives take a while to wake up or connect (or both), so "resource busy" is not a big issue as long as it clears itself up. If it doesn't eventually connect for you, then there must be a configuration issue and that will take some work to iron out-there are a lot of options and a number of places for options to be selected.
