Hiya, whats the easiest way to transfer files (in this case about 1gb of photos) from 1 mac to another - across town? both macs have leopard. neither of us have a .mac account (and because this is a once in a blue moon need - we dont want one)

Ideally what I'm looking for is my buddies home folder mounted in my finder.

i take it its something to do with the sharing panel...
any help greatly appreciated.

cheers,
pete

Copy files to CD / DVD and post !

or...

I suggest you place both macs in same room, and use "T" target mode for initial transfer.

iMac Intel Core i5, 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB 21.5" Monitor 10.7.4.
iMac 17" 2.0ghz Intel Core 2 Duo w 3gb memory (White one) 10.6.8.
Internal 500gb / 160gb plus External 500gb x 2 (2x Time Machine)

If you're just across town, burning them to DVD and driving it over would work well.

In reference to over the internet, however: You should turn on FTP on your buddy's computer, then upload your pictures to them (or vice versa if he has the pics). If the FTP computer is behind a router, you may have to configure port forwarding.

thanks guys. yeah have just burnt DVD's previously - but thought that was a bit of a waste if it was easy enough just to copy them across.

FolderShare is a lot easier than FTP; you don't have to worry about NAT and dynamic IPs, etc. Just add the folder as a library on both computers and it will keep everything in the folder in sync.
