I've spent the last couple days trying to find/configure a good way to get a Mac to collect Netflow data from Cisco router. There are a ton of Windows apps out there that do this, but none that I can find for the Mac.
Basically, we have a couple hundred Macs behind a Cisco router. I use Lithium (
LithiumCorp - Home) to track bandwidth and watch for spikes. That part works great.
However, I'd love to find a way to also get some logs of the traffic. For example, source and destination ip's, type of traffic, etc. I'm told Netflow is the way to go on this.
I've tried wireshark, ethereal, Eavesdrop, etc. but I'd prefer something getting the actual data from the router as opposed to sniffing. But then again, I'd take any other suggestions that there might be on what software I could use.
