On the WPNT834 rangemax netgear router, I'm using WPA-PSK (TKIP), and use WPA Personal to authenticate with my (macbook pro core duo) airport extreme 802.11n wireless card. I'm running leopard with all automatic updates applied. Everything used to work fine, but now I'm getting the following error when I try to connect to the wireless network:

"The wireless network appears to have been compromised and it will be disabled for about a minute."

I've verified the password is correct, and don't see any 'unauthorized people' connected to my wireless router. I've seen tons of posts regarding this error, with no clear explanation or fix to resolve it. My router has the most recent firmware, I've tried turning on SSID broadcasting and changing wireless channels with no luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

CH

Welcome to our forums!

Are you 100% positive you're looking at YOUR network? In other words, you DID change the SSID, right? And of course you changed the admin password too, right? Very important issues here.

Ideas: CHANGE the network password and try again. Recycle power on both the router and your Mac and try again. Change the channel the router is using (all routers seem to default to 6 or 7, but using channel 1 or 11 can avoid all sorts of problems.

Check in and let us know how things are going. And again, WELCOME!

I did not change the SSID, i simply enabled SSID broadcast (purely for testing purposes, I normally have this setting turned off). I'm positive I'm looking at my network (my network showed up in the list of available networks only after I enabled SSID broadcasting). The WPA password has not changed. I already tried changing to different channels, didn't make a difference. I've also recycled the router, my laptop, and reinstalled the most recent firmware for the router.
