I bought an IMAC and successfully networked it to share the Canon printer on my wife's host PC (a Dell) 6 weeks ago. But I just bought a new CX 9400 Epson printer and I cannot repeat my success. I can see the printer and navigate there easily from my MAC setup utility, just as I did when I connected the Canon, so there do not seem to be any networking or sharing issues (sharing is on on both machines). The problem is that I don't see the 9400 as an EPSON option when I reach the final step. Actually, I did not see my Canon printer there, either, but after experimenting a few times a found a model that worked. I have tried the dozens of Epsons listed to no avail. I've also tried the many alternatives to connect listed in MAC help, also unsuccessfully (although I don't seem to be having the problems they describe, I've tried the solutions anyway). This is particularly frustrating to find this model not listed as an option, and particularly after having connected the Canon so easily on my new IMAC.

Many thanks,
STEVE DAVIS

Odd. I've had good luck connecting to printers shared by a Windows XP host. Did you make sure that the Mac and the Windows machine are in the same workgroup? Mac OS X may still use 'WORKGROUP' as the default, where Windoze may use 'MSHOME' as the workgroup name.

Another thing to try may be to share the printer from the Mac, and install Bonjour for Windws on the Pee Cee. Just a thought....

Thanks very much for the reply. I had good luck with my previous Canon on this same network, which makes this particularly mystifying when the Epson won't cooperate. When I attempt to connect the MAC, I do get the option to connect to MSHOME, which I select, and then I have the option to choose "White," which I've named my wife's computer. From there, I get the options for the various Epson models. I did try connecting the printer direct to my MAC and networking back to the PC via Bonjour. Two problems: The MAC will print under perhaps 12 of the 90 model options (as I mentioned, the particular model isn't listed, so I randomly test what's there), but, 1. all of them that do work are very slow, and 2. The PC sees it on the MAC via Bonjour, but still won't respond. It just does nothing.

Perhaps the printer goes in the box and I buy another Canon?
