Hi All,

I connect to numerous wifi routers all the time with my Macbook Pro 2.4GHZ (LED backlight). Never a problem with maintaining connectivity...

...except with my AP Extreme basestation (N): it continually drops out. Numerous settings attempts, position changes, firmware upgrades, resets have not solved the problem. As I bought it to be my main wifi link to my LAN, this is more than a little frustrating (my ISDN modem has "g" wifi capability and is on the same network, never a problem maintaining connectivity for days, if necessary).

No need to reply, this is just a rant. Venting here will go a long way to preventing me from flushing it down the toilet/throwing it out the window/blowing it up in the microwave/driving over it with a steamroller/stabbing it with a chopstick/pummeling it with an iron/putting it through a spin-cycle/dragging it behind a horse until its electronic guts begin to spill out...

...I'd better stop, some of these are starting to sound good.

Ok, rant over,

Chas

Strange. I have a 2.4 GHz MBP and an N AEBS too and I don;t have any of these problems. Let me just ask, have you tried resetting the AEBS and using the factory defaults w/o any extra tinkering? I once had lots of problems with an Airport Express base station that I set up with some special settings (channel, multicast ratio, etc.). Once I reverted to automatic setup everything went very smooth.

Another thing, have you trie deleting the location/network setting (including keychain entry) and starting over form scratch with the connection setup on the MBP? Sometimes people see problems go away when they create a new location and add the wireless network manually from scratch.

What frequency are you using and are you leaving the modem's G on while you use the AEBS?

That's unfortunate. I love my Apple AirPort Extreme base station (Rev. A). Did you get a hold with Apple?
